The Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia will organize a roundtable of Secretaries General within the scope of the Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum

The Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia will organize a roundtable at the level of Secretaries General as part of its presidency of the Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum. The event will continue the initiative for working meetings among the organization’s member states, following the first such event held in Pristina at the end of 2025, which focused on communication policies and was hosted by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo.

The upcoming forum in Ohrid, scheduled for June 24–26, will bring together representatives from the administrations of member states Albania, Bulgaria, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Turkiye, as well as Croatia, which holds the status of an observer state.

The roundtable will focus on the topic „Organisation of the Work of the Constitutional Court in Line with Rules on Internal Organisation, Systematisation of Job Positions, and the Evaluation and Promotion of Employees – Challenges and Solutions” and is supported by EU, within the framework of the IPA project – capacity building.

The event will convene Secretaries General and other relevant court officials to share experiences, address common challenges, and examine potential avenues for reform. The working sessions will concentrate on practical and actionable solutions that are consistent with international standards, the recommendations of the Council of Europe, and the comparative practices of constitutional courts.

During the discussions, the delegations will focus on the organization and functioning of the constitutional courts they represent. Each delegation is expected to provide details on internal organization and institutional structure; the classification of positions and human resources management; employee evaluation and promotion; institutional and administrative challenges, as well as possible legal and practical solutions.

The event will be opened on June 24 by LL.M. Violeta Gjorgjievska – Secretary General of the Constitutional Court of North Macedonia. The second day of the forum will begin with welcoming remarks by d-r Darko Kostadinovski, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia, LL.M. Violeta Gjorgjievska, Secretary General of the Constitutional Court of North Macedonia аnd Mr. Carsten Mahnke, Team Leader of the EU project.

The program will continue with presentations by the delegations from Albania, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Turkiye, Croatia, and the North Macedonia on the topic “Best practices and common challenges regarding internal organization and functioning (working methods) of the Constitutional Courts”.

Following the presentations, participants will have the opportunity to engage in an open discussion on “The way forward - possible legal and practical solutions for improvement of internal organization and functioning (working methods) of the Courts“.

The roundtable will be concluded by Violeta Georgievska, who will summarize the conclusions and opportunities for cooperation among constitutional courts within the framework of the Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum.
